News from Tony
****Due to recent strength of the Canadian $/weakness in US $ the price of the Arizona in February tour has been reduced by $100 from previously advertised prices. The new price is $2550CAD.
Late 2008/early 2009 were characterized by a world economic turmoil not seen since the 1930’s. Canada escaped the worst of the world recession and in late 2009 the cards seem to be falling our way again, with the world economy picking up, stock markets up, the Canadian $ up and the US $ down. To compound the better news British Columbia had a wonderfully long, hot and sunny summer, though the prevalence of forest fires was in the debit column.
In May my book ‘Waterfalls of British Columbia-A Guide to BC’s 100 Best Falls’ was published. This was the culmination of a 12 year research project for me and needless to say I was very happy to see the final product. In June I was on the book tour circuit and was very happy to see some familiar faces in the audience from previous nature tours. The book is selling well and was on the BC best seller list in the summer. Click on www.tonyswaterfallsofbc.com.
Our 2010 tour catalogue begins in January with Costa Rica Birding. This will be our fourth tour to the Costa Rica/Panama area, which is one of the birdiest regions of the world. We expect to see the magnificent Resplendent Quetzal which has been referred to as the most beautiful bird in the world.
The next month I will be leading our regular Arizona in February tour for the 10th time. This is an opportunity to escape the grey, monsoon season in BC for the blue skies and sunshine of Arizona. We visit the beautiful saguaro deserts of the Tucson area and the incomparable canyonlands of Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon & Sedona.
NB. New price of this tour is $2550 CAD (see above).
In June & July we turn our heads north to the Yukon. The Yukon & Dempster Highway tour has been conducted 11 times and the birds, mammals, wildflowers and magnificent wilderness scenery of the Land of the Midnight Sun are all at their best in late June and early July. We also spend time in Dawson City, the historic heart of the Klondike Gold Rush, and take a flight over the Mackenzie Delta to Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Ocean.
